The Critical Number can never be less than 1, so actually it was the defender's die rolling that kept the unit alive as much as anything as it was only taking one loss to VBU from the double disorder. It did eventually die, but it took longer than it should have done.Trebianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02221916804339000102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615782020735321095.post-24824816366658669882018-06-06T21:33:29.769+01:002018-06-06T21:33:29.769+01:00That is a HUGE game especially for BI. Any additional disorders are converted to hits. The Battle Day is designed to see how different sets of rules handle the same battle. In truth, BI did not stand up well. We've done this battle several times with BI, and this was the best of the lot. It still wasn't great as a simulation. Much as I want a game to be "fun", I don't want it to be fantasy.

Phil reckons BI is better suited to medieval warfare and I can understand his reasons for that.

I really must write my Slingshot article now.Trebianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02221916804339000102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615782020735321095.post-90370803318255217062018-06-05T09:31:13.242+01:002018-06-05T09:31:13.242+01:00I've looked for fixes, and other than the ones...I've looked for fixes, and other than the ones I wrote there really aren't any. Always great to get a game in - especially when it's of this scale and spectacle - but it does lead to a bit of frustration when you feel the rules did not quite do the thing justice. I've had the same experience with BI: that 'crap shoot' roll you talked about annoyed the infernal regions out of me, and ruined a game that I otherwise enjoyed and really did intend to like.

I think there are fixes around, but I've not actually played since!

Cheers,
AaronPrufrockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17659918463589870423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615782020735321095.post-57098063011899870752018-06-04T14:05:29.197+01:002018-06-04T14:05:29.197+01:00TREBIAN- An enormous Ancient Battle - just the thi...TREBIAN- An enormous Ancient Battle - just the thing for epic stories to be evolved...I've never played Ancients - though I can appreciate the effort in readying the miniature forces involved.
