Zvezda Gunpowder era Artillery

I hope these pictures do these models justice. They are truly wonderful pieces of sculpting, and bear comparison with anything you can get from any other manufacturer in 15mm - 28mm scales. Don't forget these are softish plastic injection mould models too.

There's 3 pounder and 8 pounder field guns and a 16 pounder howitzer. Each model consists of 10 pieces, that fir together perfectly and really don't need glue or filing down.

The barrels are all two pieces, being a barrel and a muzzle. The carriages consist of two sides, an axle, two cross trees and one elevation wedge and two wheels. No flash and the detail is immaculate.

The models went together really well even for my fat fingers.

      Those are from the Swedish Artillery of Charles XII. You get three of the 3 pounders, and one each of the others.

    They look lovely, but will their bendy plasticness be a problem for paint adhesion?

      They're quite a stiff soft plastic, so no, that won't be a problem. I*(f you have followed this blog for any length of time you'll know I use a LOT of "soft" plastic figures. Wash them, undercoat them, paint all over then seal with a good quality varnish and you'll mostly be okay. Spears & the like can be replaced by pins or wire if needed (I do that a lot). Generally I get as much loss of paint as metal figure owners get bendy muskets or swords, or hard plastic figure owners get in stuff that snaps.

    Plastics really have moved on. Look forward to seeing them painted up. How well did the limbers go together?

      Painted crew and guns up in the next day or so, and will be at CoW. I haven't started on the limbers yet. Saving them as a bit of a treat!
