For Whom The Dice Rolls, finished!

After months of writing and playtesting, they're finally done! Hard copies are available from Amazon, in most countries, and a pdf is also available on Wargame Vault. The price on both is £14.99.

A description of how the rules work is available by clicking the link over top right, and there's a free downloadable resources pack in the Downloads section with printable markers if you need them, and some scenarios with typical force sizes so you can see what you're getting in to.

What I've tried to design is something that is truly an SCW wargame, and not "WW2 Lite", but is easy to learn and play. The rules boil down to a 2 page QRS at the back of the rules, and that's all you'll need once you've read the rules through. You'll need to keep the main rules handy for the first game or two, in case you need to cross check the fine detail (I've out in an index, too, to help out), but after that, you should find them simple and easy to play. Having said that, I think that the decisions you need to make mean this isn't always any easy game to win.

So, why not give something new a go?

    1. "Nearing completion" or "require quite a bit of work". Which is it?? Who are you publishing with?

    2. Next 4 to 8 weeks is the plan - using Amazon to self publish.

    3. The Amazon platform is good, you just have to remember you're a small cog in a big machine, so it's their way or not at all. Proofs will take 7-10 days to arrive, and "author copies" up to 3 weeks.

    4. Thanks for the tips. It seems the best option we have found and the worldwide coverage is a big bonus. My co author is dealing with the publishing side and he has found it relatively straightforward although there are occasional suprises such as US witholding tax!

    5. The US WHT isn't a problem. They give you the appropriate form (W8 or W9 or something similar) and you include it in your tax return and you get a refund. It is surprisingly straightforward.

  3. Hi Trebian,

I'm excited that your rules are available on Amazon in the U.S. I ordered them right away and look forward to receiving them. I have 3 of your other rulebooks. I hope to eventually wargame Indian Mutiny and the Great Pacific War using your rules. I'm currently finishing my 10mm Pendraken WWI figures and will be starting my 20mm Rif War project using Irregular Miniatures and Strelets Rif figures.

    1. That's great to hear. I went with Amazon as they do distribute world wide with little fuss. Now, the Rif War...that's a long burning project. I first started thinking about it in 1978, and I'm still thinking.

    1. Thanks. Now is the nerve wracking time whilst you wait to see whether or not anyone buys them, and if someone is going to post a stinking review!

    2. I plan to write on some aspect of the rules once my copy arrives. Can someone involved in play testing write an objective review?

    3. Well, objectivity is always good, but I'd settle for honesty. A lot of the more popular big selling sets use playtesters (same with Kickstarter backers for board games) who then big up the rules regardless, so it is hard to tell whether people are being objective or not.

  5. Ordered my copy from Amazon...looking forward to a good read through.
